1Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to hoosiertotes.com, related booking and contact forms, customer accounts, rental orders, and communications with Hoosier Totes ("Hoosier Totes," "we," "us," or "our"). Hoosier Totes provides reusable moving-box rentals in the South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, and Elkhart area.

This policy does not control a third party's independent website or service, even when we link to it. Their privacy terms apply to their processing.

2Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact and inquiry details: name, email address, phone number, city or service area, move type, target move date, and the message or move details you submit.
  • Rental and order details: selected packages and supplies, delivery and pickup dates and times, delivery and pickup addresses, order totals, payment choice, and related instructions.
  • Account information: username, email address, account credentials, saved addresses, and order history if you create or use an account.
  • Communications: messages, support questions, reviews, scheduling updates, and other correspondence.

Information collected automatically

When you use the site, our systems and service providers may receive your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or features used, timestamps, approximate location derived from IP, cookie identifiers, cart/session identifiers, and security or diagnostic events. We use this information to deliver the site, maintain a cart and checkout, detect abuse, troubleshoot, and—with your consent where required—measure or improve our services.

Payment information

If electronic payment becomes available, the payment provider will collect and process payment-card or bank details under its own terms. Hoosier Totes may receive transaction status, amount, payment method, and limited payment identifiers, but we do not intend to receive or retain complete payment-card numbers.

3How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to questions and booking requests;
  • prepare quotes and confirm, schedule, deliver, service, extend, and collect rentals;
  • operate carts, checkout, customer accounts, and order records;
  • send transactional emails or messages about inquiries, orders, delivery, pickup, invoices, and support;
  • verify form submissions, prevent fraud and spam, secure the site, and enforce our terms;
  • maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the website and rental experience;
  • perform analytics or advertising measurement when enabled and permitted by your cookie choices; and
  • comply with tax, accounting, legal, insurance, and dispute-resolution obligations.

Where a law requires a legal basis, our bases may include performing a contract or taking steps you request before a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the business, compliance with law, and consent for optional cookies or marketing.

4How we share information

We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Service providers: website hosting, WordPress and WooCommerce infrastructure, backup and security vendors, form and spam-prevention services, email delivery through Amazon Web Services, and providers that help us operate the site.
  • Delivery and business operations: personnel or contractors who need order, address, scheduling, or contact details to fulfill a rental.
  • Google services: Google-hosted fonts and, if enabled, Google business, analytics, advertising, or product-listing services, subject to your consent where required.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: browser, device, network, and challenge information needed to distinguish people from automated abuse. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not access form entries or other page inputs.
  • Professional and legal recipients: accountants, insurers, attorneys, government authorities, or others when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or the integrity of our services.
  • Business changes: a successor or prospective purchaser in a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
No sale for money. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that practice changes, we will update this policy and provide any legally required opt-out.

5Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies for privacy choices, security, carts, checkout, sessions, and accounts. Optional analytics and marketing storage remains denied through our consent system unless you allow the relevant category. You can accept, reject, or customize optional categories and revisit your choice using the Cookie settings control shown on the site.

For cookie names, typical durations, and browser controls, read our Cookie Policy.

6How long we retain information

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including to fulfill rentals, maintain business and tax records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention varies by record:

  • inquiries and ordinary communications are kept while active and for a reasonable follow-up period;
  • orders, invoices, rental records, and related communications may be retained for applicable accounting, tax, insurance, contract, and dispute periods;
  • account information remains while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, subject to legal exceptions;
  • security and diagnostic logs are kept for a limited operational period unless needed to investigate an incident; and
  • cookie durations are described in the Cookie Policy.

When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it where reasonably practicable. Backups may retain a protected copy until they cycle out.

7Your choices and privacy rights

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you. Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may also have rights to confirm processing, obtain a portable copy, opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling, and appeal a denied request.

  • Email [email protected] with the subject Privacy Request and describe your request.
  • To appeal a decision, reply with the subject Privacy Appeal and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.
  • We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and protect your data. An authorized agent may be required to provide proof of authority.
  • We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Some information may be retained or excluded when permitted by law—for example, records needed for taxes, fraud prevention, legal claims, or completing a transaction you requested.

You may manage optional cookies through Cookie settings, unsubscribe from a marketing email using its unsubscribe link, and adjust browser controls. Transactional rental and service messages are not marketing and may still be sent when needed.

8Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including access controls, encrypted connections, spam and abuse protection, software updates, backups, and service-provider controls. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Please do not send Social Security numbers, full payment-card numbers, account passwords, medical information, or other unnecessary sensitive information through a booking or contact form.

9Children's privacy

Our website and rentals are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

If you access the site from another country, your information may be transferred to a jurisdiction with different privacy laws, subject to safeguards required by applicable law.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, technology, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when required.
